Unknown is an insight into Medway's music scene and the individuals who attend these events. I became a photojournalist, studying the culture and observing/photographing behaviours/quirks of the individuals. All photos were taken at said music nights/events. What makes Medway's music scene unique? How should I document the fact Medway is an anomaly? The insight I chose was age range and their shoes! People of all ages coming together to enjoy the vast array of music genres, accepting each other regardless of style. Shoes are a major factor in showing the essence of a person without revealing their whole outfit, a way of allowing the viewer to observe the individual whilst creating their own story behind the photo. Each photo is accompanied by their age, name, location it was taken and their favourite song. Documenting the culture of Medway's music scene is not only to showcase a moment in history that otherwise would have been overlooked but also to communicate with outsiders how a little town in Kent has a thriving and ever-growing music scene that attracts like-minded individuals accepting one another regardless of their differences.
